"...for those who have eyes which really see, the dawn of each day must be a perpetually new revelation of beauty." Helen Keller

Imagine with me that you are striken deaf and blind. If you like, you can even try to get a feel of what it would be like. Close your eyes and cover your ears. You may even want to walk around a little bit like that, see how it is. Don't worry if someone asks what on earth are you doing, because if they don't speak load enough, you probably won't hear them. Now, if you could have one of those senses back, only one, which would it be. Would you rather see the marvels of the world around you or hear them? In the time it takes you to scroll down, think of an answer.

Helen Keller is both deaf and blind. In her wisdom and insight she says, "But of all the senses, I'm sure that sight must be the most delightful."

In this blog, together, we will explore the wonders that are our senses. The magic of sight, taste, sound, smell and touch that we so take for granted. We will begin by learning how to have "eyes which really see." I will quote heavily from an article written by Helen Keller entitled, "Three Days to See." I admire her for her wisdom and she has been an insipiration to me. I encourage you to read it, if not, by the time we are done uncovering the world around us, I'm sure you'll want to see the source that inspired us to do it!

  1. Hey, I think this is a great idea for a blog. I tend to be Negative Nancy at times, so I will definitely be reading this so I can think of the things to remind me to be more grateful for all the wonderful blessings I have in my life!

  2. This is cool, Holly. Great idea. I agree with Helen Keller--if I had to pick one, it'd be sight.

  3. I like this idea, its very unique. Do you happen to know if there is any known cause to Hellen Keller being both deaf and blind? or if it was just a case of being born that way?

  4. I seriously doubt I could walk out the door of my apartment with my eyes and ears closed...let alone live. Interesting point.

  5. WOW!!! I am SOOO excited for your blog!! I did a report on Helen Keller a while back when I was taking ASL. It was at that time that I decided that if I could choose between sight and sound, I would definitely agree with Helen and choose sight. I can't wait to hear more of your insight about this topic :)
